Mark Whittington

Senior Pastor

Bro. Mark became the pastor of EBC in December of 2018. He comes to Evergreen after serving in churches across Alabama since his years as a student at Mobile College (now the University of Mobile). Mark, the son of a pastor, spent his early childhood years  in the mountains of North Georgia and then he settled in Monroeville, Alabama with his family where he graduated high school and began his college years. Just before graduating high school he met Michele who would become the love of his life. They attended college together and were married soon after graduation in 1992. They both attended graduate school at Samford University where Michele earned her Master of Music Education and Mark earned his Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School. Mark has previously served as the pastor of churches in Monroe, Clarke, and Calhoun counties. He and Michele have three awesome children; Noah, Grace, and Melody. Noah and Grace are currently students at the University of Mobile and Melody is in the 11th grade.

Kyle Allen, Student Minister

Bro Kyle Allen joined the staff at Evergreen in September of 2015.  He grew up in Michigan and earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan – Flint.  He then moved to the Jacksonville, Florida area and taught 1st grade for four years.  Following God’s calling, Kyle left this job and went to The Baptist College of Florida and earned a second Bachelors degree in Ministry Studies.  He moved back to Jacksonville and taught second grade for a year while he waited for God to open a door for him in the ministry.  While on a mission trip in Augusta, Georgia, he met a group of students from Evergreen.  Kyle was looking for a student minister job and they were looking for a student minister.  After God opened the door, Kyle accepted the job at Evergreen Baptist Church.
